Ending chapter:
After David, Petra and Rosalind took off to the city of telepaths, Michael finds himself a surviving horse caught up in the "spider-web" and restrained. With the remaining spray left on his hand, he pulls of the web, prepare the horse and rides back to Waknuk. Rachel, all alone, waits for Michael foolishly with no clue what may happen to her or was Michael ever going to come back. Nevertheless, what happens next in Rachel's life was no tragedy but the best moment of her life, the moment when she catches Michael's thought in a far away distance knowing that he is coming back for her. Michael prepares her for their escape through mind-shaping and without notice, Rachel leaves Waknuk to meet him halfway. Unaware of Rachel's absence, the people in Waknuk lived out their ordinary life meanwhile Rachel and Michael rides off toward south-west side in hopes of meeting their future home place some day.
The novel had already given Petra, Rosalind and David a safe place to be and I think its time for them to live a normal life instead of giving them extra troubles in their dream city. However, Michael had stayed in the Fringes with Rachel in Waknuk and I wanted to give them an ending too like Michael had said they had just as much right to leave as any telepaths. This is a short, compressed ending for Michael and Rachel but with more details it will make them less of a side-character and more involve in the story. This ending also leaves an opening for the other members of the nine telepaths and a good beginning for book 2 if the story continues.
